Definition
of a Professional Groomer
A professional
groomer is person who has acquired the knowledge
and the ability to properly care for and maintain the total appearance
of
specific pet/animal breeds.
1. The knowledge to judge the
proper grooming procedure required for each
pet/animal brought to him or her.
2. The knowledge to perceive
the possible need of certain procedures for
the coat or skin of any pet/animal brought to him or her.
3. Awareness of specific
breed standards and to have the ability to apply
such standard style to each pet/animal brought to him or her (providing
the
coat is in a condition which will allow the setting of said style
without
unduly harming the pet and assuming the pet's owner wishes to have that
style
applied).
4. The very important
knowledge of realizing his or her limitations and to
be willing to suggest a visit to a veterinarian when he or she feels
there
might be a condition which could possibly require professional
veterinary
treatment.
